For independent garages
Customers check your stars before they call.
Your Google profile is often the first thing a new customer sees. Rateful looks after your reviews and your Google Business Profile, so it shows how good your garage actually is.
A short, personalised report on your Google profile. Free, and yours to keep, whether or not you work with us.
Booked in for an MOT and a noisy wheel bearing. Fixed same day, fair price, and they explained everything. Will be back.
Thanks so much, James. Glad we could get the bearing sorted the same day. See you next year for the MOT.
Example review and reply
Sound familiar?
Good garages, quiet Google profiles
Most independent garages are busy fixing cars, so the Google profile gets left alone. These are the things we see most often:
Reviews with no reply
Including the odd bad one, sitting near the top for every new customer to read.
Not many recent reviews
Happy customers rarely leave one unless someone asks, so the newest review can be months old.
A listing nobody looks after
Sometimes it's not claimed at all. Often the hours, services or photos are out of date.
Other garages showing first
Nearby garages with more reviews and fuller profiles tend to appear above you on Google Maps.
Why it matters
Reviews are where customers decide
Before anyone rings a garage, they look at its stars, how recent the reviews are, and how the owner replies. A 2026 survey of 1,002 US consumers gives a sense of how much this matters:
said they are more likely to use a business after reading positive reviews.
said they are more likely to use a business that replies to all of its reviews.
said they look for reviews from the last 3 months.
said they would only use a business rated 4.5 stars or higher.
It also affects who Google shows first. Google says complete, accurate details and more reviews with positive ratings can help your local ranking. In Whitespark's 2025 survey of local search specialists, the Google Business Profile and reviews were rated among the biggest factors for appearing in the map results.

What we do
Everything that gets you found and chosen on Google
Grouped by what it does for your garage.
Reputation
Customers trust what they see
- Every review answered within 24 hours, written for that customer, not copied and pasted.
- Bad reviews flagged to you the same day, with a calm, professional reply that protects your rating.
- Reviews that break Google's rules (fake, abusive or off-topic) reported to Google. Google decides whether to remove them.
- A simple system for asking every customer for a review: your review link, a counter QR code and a short message for your invoices. No incentives, and we never pick and choose who gets asked.
Visibility
More local drivers find you
- A full audit and rebuild in week one: the right main and extra categories, every service listed and described, attributes, opening and bank holiday hours, photos.
- A business description written around what people actually search for in your town.
- Regular Google posts, such as MOT reminders and winter checks, so your profile stays active.
- Your details set up on Apple Maps and Bing too, so iPhone and Bing users find you.
Protection
Your details stay right
- Anyone can suggest changes to your hours, phone number or address on Google, and those changes can go live without you noticing. We check your listing twice a day and put anything wrong right.
- No passwords. You add us as a manager, stay the owner, and can remove us at any time.
- Real reviews only. We never buy, write or filter reviews, which breaks Google's rules and puts listings at risk.
Results
You can see what's working
- Where you rank for searches like "mechanic", "MOT" and "car service" in your town, month by month.
- How you compare with your nearest competitors on rating and reviews.
- How many people called you, asked for directions or visited your website from Google, as shown in your profile's performance figures.
- New reviews, your rating and every reply sent.
How it works
Three simple steps
Free health check
Tell us your garage and we'll send a short, personalised report: your score, how you compare with nearby garages, and your top three opportunities.
Pick what matters
If you'd like, we have a quick chat about the report. Some garages fix things themselves, and that's fine. The report is yours either way.
We look after it
If you want us to take it on, you add us as a manager (no passwords). We fix your profile and answer old reviews in the first week, then keep on top of it every week.

Who you'll deal with
I'm Calum McCormack. I work as a mechanic, and I run Rateful. I know what a garage day looks like: the work comes first and the Google profile gets forgotten. So plenty of good garages end up with great work and a quiet, neglected profile, with reviews nobody has replied to. That's often the first thing a new customer sees.
Rateful is new and small, so you'll deal with me directly. I'd rather show you a free report and let you decide than give you a sales pitch.
Questions
Things people ask
How does the free health check work?
Fill in the form below, or email or call. Within a working day or two you'll get a short PDF about your garage's Google profile: a score (our own score, not Google's), how you compare with nearby garages, your top three opportunities and how to get more genuine reviews. It's free, it's yours to keep, and there's no obligation.
Why would I pay for this?
For the time and consistency. Replying to every review, keeping your details right, posting updates and asking customers for reviews is a little work every week, and it's the first thing to slip when the workshop is busy. If you'd rather keep it in-house, the health check shows you what to do.
Couldn't I just do this myself?
Yes, and some garages do. It needs doing every week, replies need to be right first time, and nobody is watching for changes to your listing. If you don't have the time, we do it for you.
How long does it take to get started?
About two minutes of your time: you add us as a manager on your Google profile. If your listing isn't claimed yet, Google's check that it's yours can take a few days, and we'll walk you through it.
Do you need my Google password?
No. You add us as a manager from your Google Business Profile settings. Managers can reply to reviews and update details, but can't remove you or delete your profile.
Do I stay in control?
Yes. You stay the owner of your profile, you can see everything we do, and you can remove our access at any time.
Will the replies sound like a robot?
No. Each reply is written for that review, in a friendly voice that fits your garage, and every one is checked by a person before it goes up.
What happens with a bad review?
It gets a calm, professional reply that invites the customer to get in touch directly. If it mentions something serious, we check with you before replying.
Can you get rid of bad reviews or add fake good ones?
No. Fake, paid or incentivised reviews break Google's rules and UK consumer law, and can get a listing restricted. We help you get more genuine reviews by asking every customer, not just the happy ones.
Is there a minimum contract?
No. It's monthly, with no minimum term.
How do I cancel?
Just email or text to say you'd like to stop. We'll cancel your subscription so you're not charged again, and you remove us as a manager (or we remove ourselves).
My listing isn't claimed. Is that a problem?
Not at all. We'll walk you through claiming it. Google checks it's yours by phone, text, email or a short video, and it can take a few days.
